Ash Walsh consolidates points in first Dunlop Series race at Queensland Raceway

The Dunlop Series field faced qualifying at Queensland Raceway this morning for the first of three races to be held at Round 4 of the Dunlop Series. Infant’s Friend driver, Ash Walsh continued the form shown in practice to line the MSR FG Falcon in position 4. Walsh was a little perplexed that the speed was not quite good enough for a front row spot but as only 3/10ths of a second separated Walsh from Pole Sitter Dale Wood, he could take some confidence in the speed in the car as the first 14 lap journey got set to start. Ash Walsh rolled out the Infants’ Friend FG Falcon V8 Supercar for two practice sessions today at Queensland Raceway in the lead up to the Coates Hire Ipswich 360. The Ipswich ‘local’ sees this event very much as his home race having grown up in the area. The thirty one car field was on track for 2 x 40 minute practice sessions and Walsh was quickly up in the top group on the time sheets. Continue reading

Storming drive by Ash Walsh overcomes qualifying setback in Dunlop Series

The hope of an upfront qualifying result for Infants’ Friend V8 Supercar driver Ash Walsh evaporated after just one lap this morning when a power steering failure sidelined the car. For Walsh and the Matt Stone Racing team it was a setback, but the team responded brilliantly in the first 14 lap Dunlop Series race.

Starting in 30th place Walsh guided the FG Falcon up 20 places to finish in an outstanding 10th place and snare a front of grid starting position for Race 2 on Sunday. The race was not an easy affair however with crashes and spins by many Dunlop Series runners, but Walsh maintained his composure and threaded through with some strong passing and near misses. Ash Walsh continues good form in Dunlop Series Townsville practice

Infant’s Friend V8 Supercar pilot Ash Walsh has continued his good 2013 form as Round 3 of the Dunlop Series burst into life on the streets of Townsville today. The Development Series field boasts a 31 car grid and Walsh made sure that the Infants’ Friend Falcon was again in the lead group in the final practice session.

The Dunlop Series round is the main support to the Sucrogen Townsville 400 this weekend and will see the cars using the Dunlop Sprint ‘soft’ tyre for the first time. For the young guns in the series running on the mix of tyres is an invaluable learning as they strive to move into the main V8 Supercars Championship. Continue reading
