Leading Dunlop Series young gun, Ash Walsh announced today that he will contest the final two rounds of the 2012 Dunlop Series in a current SBR spec FG Falcon. The planning for this move goes back many months, however the final go ahead was only agreed between Matt Stone Racing and SBR prior to Bathurst. The chassis has undergone a full upgrade and will run a full test day prior to the Winton Round in November.
“This is a really exciting deal for the last couple of rounds.” Ash said as he checked the car at Matt Stone Racing’s workshop. “We have been discussing this option with Matt as part of our 2012 campaign for some time but to see it now come to fruition is awesome. The MSR and PACE guys have really pulled out all stops to ensure everything on the car is spot on. SBR have also been a great help. I can’t wait to roll it out at the test on Wednesday.” Walsh added.
In putting his plans together for 2013, team owner Matt Stone said, “This year has been very important for MSR. Having Ash on board has been a great boost and we have really got our engineering side working well. To roll out the FG and get two rounds prior to the 2013 Dunlop Series is a very important step for us and will really set us up well for the year ahead. We are also in a big battle with Luke Youlden for the Privateer’s Cup so hopefully Ash and the FG will bring it home” Stone said.
The FG Falcon is the ex Tim Slade car, Chassis No SBR FG02 and will appear in the current simPRO livery at Winton.
